How to make sure you receive your emails
SPAM is a major problem and all email providers are looking for ways to overcome
the burden spam places on their systems. However each one has its own solution
and some are rather overzealous! We have listed the most common culprits below
with solutions.
How to stop Hotmail from blocking our emails.
Depending on its current configuration, Hotmail may classify email received
from us as spam. Should this be the case, you would find our email messages
diverted to the "Junk" folder of your Hotmail account rather than
reaching the inbox. If you are currently not receiving some or all of our emails,
you need to change your Hotmail account settings. There are three things you
can do. Proceed as follows:
- Safe List: In the “Mail Handling” section of
Hotmail, go to “Options” and add the following email address to
the "Safe List": davidt@control-your-drinking.co.uk
By placing this email address on the “Safe List” in your Hotmail
account, you are ensuring that mail from us will never be considered spam
(filtered out as “junk”) and will instead find its way into your
inbox.
- Hotmail Contacts: Manually enter our email address into
your “Hotmail Contacts”. Again, this will ensure that our emails
will reach your inbox.
- Block Sender List: Make sure that our email address is
NOT listed in your Hotmail "Block Sender List". You can access the
"Block Sender List" from the "Options" page under the
"Mail Handling" section.
How to stop Yahoo Mail from blocking our emails
Depending on its current configuration, Yahoo Mail may classify email received
from us as spam. Should this be the case, you would find our email messages
diverted to the "Bulk" folder of your Yahoo Mail account rather than
reaching the inbox. If you are currently not receiving some or all of our emails,
you need to change your Yahoo Mail account settings. Proceed as follows:
- If you find any of our email in the 'Bulk' folder, all you need to do is
open that email and click on the link 'This is not SPAM', which is located
immediately following the 'From' line in the email.
We use the following email address to mail out all our correspondence: david@control-your-drinking.co.uk
- To ensure that mail from us will never be considered spam (filtered out
as “junk”) and will instead find its way into your inbox, you
can also manually enter our email address into your Yahoo Address Book.
- You can also set up filters for our emails. Go to the "Mail Option"
page in the "Management" section and look for the "Filters
Setting" page.
How to stop AOL from blocking our emails
- Check your spam folder
When email contains certain characteristics or the member has previously marked
the mail as spam it will cause the email to go directly into your Spam Folder.
If the email is in the Spam Folder add the our email address - david@control-your-drinking.co.uk
to your address book. This will prevent your mail from going to the spam folder.

- Add the our email address - david@control-your-drinking.co.uk to
your address book
If a member has ever signed on to AOL 9.0 a Spam Folder was automatically
created for them. If the member is no longer using AOL 9.0 mail may still
go to the Spam Folder, but may not be available to previous versions of AOL.
The member can add the sending email address to their address book which will
prevent it from going to the Spam Folder. To be sure that your email is going
to the Spam Folder they can use web mail at AOL.com to check the Spam Folder.
Other email providers
We suggest using a Google search such as "YOUR EMAIL PROVIDER
blocking email" - there is almost certainly
a simple solution available as you won't be the only person to experience these
difficulties!
